Living Kriya Yoga with an Awakened Heart

Insights and Practices for Spiritually Conscious Living Every Day
  • Led by Minister Ellen Grace O’Brian

  • Week-long Retreat: May 17 – 22, 2026

  • In-Person only

This retreat will focus on essentials of Kriya Yoga philosophy and practice, emphasizing the connection between superconscious meditation and spiritually conscious living.

“By Kriya Yoga, one’s consciousness functions on a higher plane; devotion to the Infinite Spirit then arises spontaneously in one’s heart.” (Paramahansa Yogananda)

We will explore what it means to live with an awakened heart—how inner clarity, strength, and devotion naturally guide us to act in harmony with what we know to be true. We will look at how our innate divine qualities—such as peace, compassion, and inner wisdom—can be cultivated, allowing us to fulfill our divine purpose in harmony with the powers of nature and the support of divine grace.

During this retreat:

  • Learn the keys to successful Kriya Yoga practice
  • Discover practical ways to cultivate an awakened heart
  • Explore and strengthen your innate divine qualities
  • Clarify what it means to live in the highest way and how to do it

Teachings and practices will be drawn from those given directly by Roy Eugene Davis and other masters in this tradition of Kriya Yoga, including Mr. Davis’ commentary on The Bhagavad Gita regarding the characteristics of soul-inspired attitudes and behaviors.

Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian met her spiritual teacher, Roy Eugene Davis, in 1979 and was ordained by him in 1982. She is the spiritual director of the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment, a meditation center in the Kriya Yoga tradition with headquarters in San Jose, California. She has written several books and travelled worldwide over the past 40 years teaching Kriya Yoga. www.ellengraceobrian.com or www.csecenter.org

All guest houses are fully booked for this retreat. If you would like to be added to the waiting list or book a room off grounds and attend please notify our office by calling or sending an email.

We will begin with the primary principles of Ayurveda and then move into how this framework and perspective is put into practice.

In our time together we will consider our relationship to food and how to use food as medicine; learn Ayurvedic body-centered practices; do experiential breathwork and meditations that support psychological health and enhance spiritual practice; and cultivate daily and seasonal routines to help balance our lives.
